Live Racing in Helsinki March 22nd

The top 5 Race Condition drivers in Finland (excluding Reaktor employees) get to compete with real, Raspberry-powered cars in our friendly racing event at the fabulous Reaktor HQ in Helsinki, on March 22nd. You'll get to see how your JavaScript code can drive an actual car on our vinyl track! Reaktor does not cover travel costs to the event venue.

Sign up for racing, show us your skills and get an invite to the live event! We have a limited number of cars so only top 5 will get to race. The event will be a lot of fun for spectators as well though.

Reaktor who?

Reaktor is a global technology consultancy that designs and builds category-defining digital products. We partner deeply with our clients to solve their most mission-critical challenges. Our clients include industry leaders such as adidas, HBO, Epic Games, American Airlines, and Varian. Today, we are 700 strong, with offices in six countries.

Background

We have a long history of organizing Code Camps where Reaktorians gather to compete on some programming challenge for a few days - in addition to goofy sports activities, good food, drinks, sauna and socializing.

The concept and the actual challenges have been so cool that in 2011 we decided to give some of the fun to the not-yet-reaktorians as well and organized Hello World Open 2012 based on our "Pong" game and later a racing-themed Hello World Open 2014 which was also titled "Programming World Championships" with more than 2500 teams participating from all around the world.

We've also organized smaller competitions such as Artificial Overmind Challenge in 2019 as well as a bunch of online programming puzzles which can still be found at coding puzzles.

Race Condition is a continuation of this story - we started it in 2019 on a Code Camp where your task was to write a Python program to race with an RC car that had been custom fitted with a Raspberry Pi and a camera. During the COVID restriction times we organized a remote version where you competed with Dockerized bots in a Unity based simulator instead.

Now, we're presenting you with a competition where you can code in JavaScript directly in your browser, in this Unity based racing environment. And better yet, we still have the physical cars as well, so the best JavaScript racers can try their code on the actual track on March 22nd at Reaktor HQ in Helsinki.
